Stop planning. Start approving.

S
Sol Ericson Brand storyteller · Smart Post Studio

The hard part of social media was never the posting. It's Sunday night, a folder of photos from the week, and a blank calendar asking you to decide what goes where, with what caption, at what time, thirty times over. From today, in the web app, you hand that folder to Sol and tell her what you want. She hands back the month. You approve it.

What Sol does now

Sol is the assistant that lives at the top of the web app's sidebar. Until now she answered questions. Now she plans. The whole thing takes four steps:

1. Drop in your media. A week's worth or a month's worth of photos and videos, straight into the web app.

2. Tell her what you want. Typed or spoken — there's a microphone button. "Schedule these over the next two weeks on Instagram and X, keep it casual, add hashtags." That's enough. She looks at each image to understand what it shows, then proposes a cadence first ("Instagram 4 a week, TikTok 2 a week") that you can change before she writes a word.

3. Review the plan. It arrives as a grid: every post assigned to the platforms it belongs on, a caption written per platform in your brand voice, hashtags, and a time picked from your account's own best-posting-time heatmap. Change anything — move a time, rewrite a caption, add or drop a platform, delete a post you don't like.

4. Approve once. One click schedules the lot. Nothing is posted until you've approved it, and everything she scheduled sits in your normal queue, editable like any other post, right up until it goes out.

The rules she follows so you don't have to

A plan is only useful if you can trust it without checking every line. So Sol works inside a few hard rules:

• She never sends an image to TikTok or YouTube. Those are video platforms, and she treats them that way.
• Every caption stays under the platform's character limit. X gets an X-length caption, Instagram gets an Instagram-length one.
• She only plans for platforms you've connected in the web app. She can't add accounts, and she can't post to one you haven't linked.
• No time in the past, and never two posts on the same platform within two hours of each other.
• Times come from your own heatmap — the one the Brand → Timing tool generates from your audience. If you haven't generated one yet, she uses a sensible default table and tells you so. We're not going to claim a "guaranteed best time", because nobody can; what she uses is your data.

What it costs, and who gets it

Each post Sol writes uses one AI generation from your monthly allowance, and she shows the count before she writes anything: "this will use 12 of your 300." No surprises, no overage.

It's included on Studio plans (from $11/mo, where the AI writing lives) and in the 14-day trial, so every new account can try it. On the $8 Scheduler plan and the free plan it's locked — those plans are "bring your own AI", and your own AI can do the same job through the MCP connector: Claude or Cursor reads your queue, drafts and schedules. Same outcome, your model.

Two honest limits. It's in the web app only for now; the desktop app follows. And there's a fair-use ceiling of 60 image descriptions a day and 10 planning runs an hour, which no solo creator will hit and which keeps the allowance honest for everyone.

Why we built it this way

We could have built "AI posts for you." We didn't, for the same reason the MCP connector has no post-now tool: handing a model unsupervised access to your public voice is a bad default. Sol's job is to do the planning you were going to do anyway, in the voice you already set up in your brand profile, and then stop. The approve button is the product. If the plan is wrong, you change it in the grid; if a caption is flat, that's a signal your brand profile needs more in it, and the fix takes two minutes.

The thing that changes is how a month starts. Instead of thirty decisions, you make one.

Try it

Sign in at app.smartpoststudio.com, click Sol at the top of the sidebar (or "Let Sol plan it" on an empty queue), drop in a week of photos, and tell her what you want. If you're on a trial or a Studio plan it's already there. If you've been batching by hand, our older guide on batching a month of posts in one sitting is now the slow way, and we're fine with that.

Run the system without the busywork.

Smart Post Studio schedules a week of posts across all eight platforms from your Mac or PC — or straight from the cloud. 14-day free trial, from $8/month.
