Email campaigns are live in Smart Post Studio

This week's Smart Post Studio newsletter was written, scheduled and sent from inside Smart Post Studio. That sentence is the announcement: email campaigns are now built into the app — included on every paid plan at no extra cost, sent from your own domain, up to 5,000 emails a month. Here's what shipped, why we built it, and what it deliberately doesn't do yet.

Why a social scheduler does email now

Your follower count belongs to a platform. An algorithm change halves your reach overnight; a mistaken ban erases years of work; none of it is appealable in any meaningful way. Every experienced creator knows the answer: the email list. It's the one audience channel nobody can take away from you.

And yet email means another tool, another login, another subscription — typically $20+/month before your list is even big. So most solo creators and small brands either pay it grudgingly or skip email entirely. That's the gap. The person scheduling a week of posts is exactly the person who should send a newsletter in the same sitting. Now they can.

What shipped

1. Lists — imported or typed in

Upload your existing subscribers as CSV or TXT (up to 5,000 rows per import), or just type contacts in by hand, one per line. Every import is validated: bad addresses, throwaway domains and duplicates are dropped before they can hurt your sending reputation, and you confirm your subscribers actually opted in.

2. Your own sending domain — required, on purpose

Add your domain, set three DNS records, click Check. Your campaigns go out from your address — there is no shared "send from Smart Post Studio" option, deliberately. A shared sender address would pool every customer's deliverability into one basket; one bad actor would poison it for everyone. Your domain, your reputation, under your control. The Email tab walks you through setup with a five-step guide that checks off each step live.

3. Campaigns — write, test, send or schedule

Subject, from-name, body in HTML or plain text (plain text renders as proper paragraphs), merge tags like {{first_name}} for personalisation. Send yourself a test first, then send now or schedule for later — and pause or stop a campaign mid-send if you need to.

4. Results, reported honestly

Each campaign reports recipients, sent, delivered, opened, bounced, complaints and unsubscribes. One honesty note the industry avoids: open counts are undercounted — Apple Mail's privacy features fire opens that never happened and hide ones that did. We show the number and tell you it's approximate, rather than pretending it's precise.

5. Hygiene you can't turn off

Every email carries a one-click unsubscribe link and your postal address — both legally required, so the app won't let a campaign send without them. Unsubscribes, bounces and complaints are honoured permanently, across all your lists, even if you delete a list and re-upload it. Getting your domain blacklisted is worse than any single bounced campaign, so the guardrails are not optional.

What it costs: nothing extra

Email campaigns are included on every paid plan at no additional cost, with a safety cap of 5,000 emails per month per account (need more? talk to us). Trial accounts get 100 emails to try the whole flow. The free plan doesn't include email. For comparison: a standalone email tool typically starts around $20/month — more than twice the price of our entire $8 Scheduler plan, which now covers all 8 social platforms and your newsletter.

What it doesn't do yet

No automations or drip sequences. No templates. No signup forms. No segments or A/B tests. Those are all real features and they're on the roadmap — but we shipped broadcasts done right instead of ten half-built features. If your workflow is "write a newsletter, send it to my list, see what happened", it's complete today.

Where it lives

The Email tab in the web app — works in any browser. The desktop app has an Email tab that takes you straight there. Full details and the honest limits: smartpoststudio.com/email.

And yes — the launch newsletter really did go out through this feature, from our own domain, with the same enforced unsubscribe footer every customer gets. Dogfood or it didn't happen.

Run the system without the busywork.
