Meet Sol — the in-app help chat

S
Sol Ericson Brand storyteller · Smart Post Studio

Smart Post Studio v1.2.0 shipped today and brought a new face with it. Sol — the in-app help chat — now sits one click away while you're working. She knows the product, she answers in plain language, and she doesn't pretend to be a human. Here's exactly what she does and where she fits.

What Sol is

Sol is an AI character — explicitly an AI, never pretending otherwise. She powers the in-app help chat that's now built into Smart Post Studio (and on the marketing site too). Open the chat panel; type a question; get an answer in seconds. Powered by Claude Haiku 4.5 with the entire Smart Post Studio knowledge base baked into the system prompt: pricing, plans, every supported platform's quirks, account connection flows, troubleshooting steps, Meta/Google/LinkedIn approval status, the works.

Her brief is narrow and clear: help you use Smart Post Studio without making you read documentation. If you've ever tried to remember whether Instagram requires a Business account or a Creator account to connect, or what file size cap applies to TikTok, or how the trial converts to paid — that's exactly the kind of question Sol is built for. Ask in any of 50+ languages; she mirrors the language you used.

What Sol is not

A few things she's deliberately not, because honesty matters here.

She's not the founder. Smart Post Studio is built by Olver Thorarinsson, a real human (about page here). Sol is an AI character with a defined role. She'll say so if you ask. The first message of every new chat conversation discloses she's AI.

She's not a replacement for support. For billing, refunds, account-specific issues, or anything that requires a human judgment call — she'll redirect you to support@smartpoststudio.com, which goes directly to Olver.

She doesn't see your account data. Sol's knowledge base is the product knowledge — features, limits, troubleshooting. She doesn't read your scheduled posts, your captions, your connected accounts. If you ask her "what did I schedule for Friday," she'll tell you to check the calendar inside the app.

She can be wrong. The knowledge base is comprehensive but not perfect. If she says something that doesn't match what you see in the app, trust the app and email support. We'd rather you tell us than work around a bot mistake.

How she works under the hood

Sol runs on Claude Haiku 4.5. Haiku is fast and cheap, which means responses arrive in 1-3 seconds, and we can offer the chat free on every plan rather than gating it as a premium feature. The system prompt is around 6,000 words of product-specific knowledge — enough to handle 95% of real questions accurately without needing to fall back to "ask support."

Conversations are scoped to the browser session — close the tab and the chat history clears. There's no persistent profile, no tracking across sessions. Rate-limited to 20 messages per session per hour, which is well above what a real conversation needs and stops abuse cleanly.

Where to find her

In the desktop app: Help icon, top right. Opens a panel inside the app window. Doesn't get in the way of what you're doing.

On the marketing site: Floating button bottom-right of every page. Click to open. Ask questions about features, pricing, supported platforms before you download. Same Sol, same knowledge base.

What this changes

The honest answer: it removes one of the biggest friction points for a self-serve product. Before today, if you hit a question while using Smart Post Studio you had three options: hunt through the FAQ, email support and wait for a response, or give up and figure it out yourself. Now there's a fourth — ask in the app, get an answer in two seconds, keep working.

This particularly helps new users in their first week. The trial period is when most questions surface, and waiting hours for an email reply is when most trials quietly die. Sol catches the 80% of questions that have known answers immediately, which means support email becomes what it should be — the path for the harder 20% that need a real human.

TL;DR: Sol shipped today in Smart Post Studio v1.2.0 — an in-app AI help chat powered by Claude Haiku 4.5 with the full product knowledge base baked in. She answers in 50+ languages, discloses she's an AI in every conversation, and redirects anything human-required to support. Open the help panel in the app, or click the chat bubble bottom-right of smartpoststudio.com.
