8 free social tools that never upload your files

Most "free tools for creators" pages have a catch: the tool works after you hand over your email, or your file uploads to someone's server first. We built ours the other way — every tool below runs entirely in your browser, no account, and your files never leave your machine.

There are eight now, all at smartpoststudio.com/tools. Here's what each one actually does, in the order we'd reach for them.

1. Instagram line-break generator

The most annoying small bug in social media: you write a caption with paragraph spacing, paste it into Instagram, and the blank lines vanish. It happens because trailing spaces cancel line breaks and fully empty lines get collapsed. The formatter fixes both — write on the left, copy the converted version, paste it anywhere. Works for TikTok and LinkedIn captions too.

2. Image resizer for every platform

One image in, eight correctly-sized exports out: Instagram portrait and square, Stories/Reels vertical, X landscape, Facebook, LinkedIn link image, Pinterest pin, YouTube thumbnail. The resizer uses your browser's own canvas, so a 20 MB photo never crosses the internet — which matters if you've read our position on what cloud tools do to your media.

3. "Will your video pass?" checker

Before you sit through a failed upload: drop the file into the checker and see its resolution, duration, size and average bitrate scored against platform specs — is it really 9:16, is it under X's 512 MB cap, will 1080p survive the platform's re-encode. Your browser's own decoder reads the file locally.

4. Character counter — live, all platforms

The original tool in the set: type once, watch live counts against the real 2026 limits for X, Threads, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube — including where each feed truncates, which is usually the number that actually matters. Open the counter.

5. Engagement rate calculator

Followers, average likes, average comments — rate out. What makes ours different is what it refuses to do: invent an "industry benchmark table". Engagement falls as accounts grow and varies wildly by niche and format, so anyone selling you a precise good/bad threshold is guessing. We give you the number plus honest context.

6. UTM link builder

If you don't tag your links, your analytics can't tell Instagram traffic from TikTok traffic — every visit is just "social". The builder assembles clean UTM links with per-platform presets and enforces the conventions (lowercase, hyphens) that keep your reports readable. We tag every link we post; it's how we know which pages actually drive signups.

7. Post-time planner

No fake "magic posting hours" — the planner does pure timezone math: pick the regions your audience lives in and see which posting hours, in your local time, catch the most of them awake.

8. The verified image-size reference

Not interactive, but the page the resizer is built on: every image and video dimension for 9 platforms, checked against current platform specs and dated so you know it's fresh. Two numbers cover 90% of posts — 1080 × 1350 for feeds, 1080 × 1920 for vertical — and the tables cover the rest.

Why free, honestly

These tools cost us almost nothing to run — they're static pages doing their work in your browser.
